Opening My Call

On September 5, 2018 The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints announced that all prospective missionaries for the Church in Idaho and Utah would be receiving their calls online. (lds.org/digital_mission_calls)

I received my call exactly a week later, and was notified by a text message that I had been assigned and my call was ready to be viewed.

As one of the first missionaries to be receiving my call online, I wasn't too jazzed. I was a little let down that I wouldn't be looking for the large white envelope in my mailbox, and wouldn't have a physical piece of paper with my call on it (which I'd be able to print off later).

However, I decided that wasn't something to get hung up on because I was finally going to know where I'd be serving! (And I'd know at a faster rate than what my other friends had painfully and impatiently experienced.) It took about a week from the time my papers were submitted to when I received my call, and let me tell you, this is no thing to be upset about! It's been a good change considering many of us can be impatient and are just SO excited to know where we'll be at for the next little while.

And I figured having a bad attitude about not receiving my call the traditional way would just put a damper on my overall experience. Afterall, it's just a silly piece of paper, and what really matters are the people who I've been called to serve.
